Day 65 - Never go that way!

Another somewhat late start to the morning! We were leaving this morning so after packing up and a quick tidy up around the camp we headed back to Dunsborough to grab a few things then out on the road heading South to Margaret River. We stopped at Yallingup Maze, it is much harder than it looks! There were plenty of twists and turn and even a couple of trap doors!

Inside Steve, Lizette & Neale relaxed with coffee over some mind bending brain stimulating puzzles, whilst I took all the twists and turns with Oscar.  The kids loved the jumping castle as I think nearly all kids do, and Neale the biggest kid of them all practiced his WWF Rope slam moves on the young uns’! 

Loaded back into the car and we followed the bus down to Prevelly to where a friend of Lizette & Neales’ is staying for the Summer. We set up camp and then headed down to Carters’ for dinner and an evening of good company and laughs. 

We bought a game from the Maze called “Crazy Campers” and I tried for some of the evening to get out Puzzle 1 to no avail, Carter kindly advised that if the box reads 3-5 years then I’ve got plenty of time!

Day 64 - Cape Naturaliste

Yallingup beach is really beautiful, Lizette & Bodhi had gone out for a surf so we met up with Neale & Aliyah. Just as we were coming into the beach we noticed a heap of activity on the point, Neale had heard someone say they were shooting a music video.  So of course we had to go for a sticky beak, so we wandered on down but by the time we got there, they were packing up and there was only a lonely drummer? No idea who the band was or what they were doing but it was a great spot to get some photos of Lizette & Bodhi surfing, until we later realised they had already left the water!

We headed back to Dunsborough to Samudra (Kombi café) after a very easy Monday morning! I want a vegie garden like that, it was huge and so abundant! I had another raw vegan carrot cake mmmm, 

Oscar had a vegie burger that was yummo but Steve ordered vegan Nachos and OMG it was the best thing I think I’ve ever eaten, I know that’s a big call but it was really that good! I am now on a mission to recreate the nachos!

After thoroughly enjoying an afternoon just hanging out there we headed up to the lighthouse at Cape Naturaliste. We just missed the last lighthouse tour, it wasn’t meant to be so we took a long walk down one of the Cape tracks and were rewarded with more whale sightings on what looks like the most untouched part of Australia we have seen so far, it was just a beautiful spot. The whales in the background, some seals just below us basking on the rocks (lack of awesome seal photos due to big camera battery flat) Was a really lovely walk.

Day 63 - Lest we forget

Headed into Bussleton to check out a market, which was better than most we’ve seen over here on the west but still only got some vegan handcrafted soap.  We were hoping for lots of fresh fruit & veg but it wasn’t to be.  Ella got scammed by the big sign reading “free books & dvds for kids”!  Life lesson – if it looks to good to be true it usually is!

Day 62 - Vintage Fest

Another trip to Dunsborough and we found the most amazing place called Samudra.  It’s a “real food for life” café completely vegan except for the coffee and is mostly raw foods. It has it’s own organic garden out the back with an awesome yoga studio incorporated. 

We had the most delicious raw vegan carrot cake, Ella & Oscar tried an Iced Chai and I had a Hot Chai, they didn’t go down very well but was very impressed they tried. Steve had Kombucha tea which is extremely good for you and even brought a bottle home. 

 Later in the afternoon we headed down to Clancys Fish Pub to the Sou’ West Vintage Fest. The pub itself was a fabulous venue, really great atmosphere and huge gardens out the back  and a giant outdoor connect 4 game.

There was quite a few people dressed in the 50’s fashion and a few props about although I think I had more at home! They were advertising 50’s vintage makeovers and pin up photo for $35 which I was keen to do and thought that was a fair price until they explained that it was just hair & make up and a head shot and the clothing was for hire! I passed on that.

They had acrobats and a roving rendition of Danny & Sandys “you’re the one that I want ooh ooh ooh”! It was a really great afternoon.

Steve dealing out the Rescue Remedy. Lizette had given it to Steve when he had a headache at the caves, he just opened his mouth without hesitation and let her administer the drops, we had a good laugh that she could give him anything! I whipped up a scrap bag for Lizette seeing as she shares my enthusiasm (addiction) to all things crafty.

Day 61 - Concert Time

Drove into Dunsborough for some groceries and a quick look around, looks like a lovely little town.

 

We took a trip to the Yallingup beach which is really nice, the kiddos explored the rockpools, went for  a snorkel and we all enjoyed the salt air.  I’m sure that’s making them grow!

I busted out the sewing machine for a bit of therapy & did some Christmas sewing.
Ella sewed up a dress her & Aliyah had been working on.



Ella & Aliyah were performing at Ensuite #10 tonight.
The line up included Stacys Mom, Brother, Don’t Cha and a few others. They sure have the moves!

Ella learnt a valuable lesson about mascara, you gotta take it off at the end of the night to avoid the Panda Eyes! Thankfully Lizette had another pearl of wisdom - use coconut oil - works a treat!

Day 60 - It's No Biggie!

Detoured via the Big Orange and the Big Cow, gotta say I was disappointed, they had moved the Big Orange and we missed it but my darling husband was so good to “chuck a uey!” and go back to see it – soo worth it?! We then drove to see the Big Cow – which conjured up images of a giant Cow! I think I need to write to the council of “The Bigs” and let them know that someone stole their “Big” cow and replaced it with a regular size if not a little smaller cow – not impressed!

After all that excitement we made our way down to Yallingup, where Lizette had made a sweet deal with the manager & we were given an ensuite site at no extra charge.

Caves Caravan Park $40 night – Older park, Dave the manager is great, really cruisey little town.

Day 59 - Housekeeping

Hung around camp, did some housekeeping & a heap of washing

A group turned up just out the front of the park, with their petrol engine remote control cars, boy did they fly! We watched them for a bit and Oscar, Ella & Steve have decided they gotta get some of them!
