Day 332 – Waterpark Take 2

  • Howard Springs
  • 32°c
Casuarina Shopping Centre was first on our list of things to do today as Ella & Oscar really wanted to buy themselves flat caps - all the rage apparently?! I really thought these flamingo slippers were a must have but Steve thought otherwise!

Finally we made it to the waterpark and found the Berry family waiting for us. The kids had the best time on the waterslides, they kept going over & over & over. After completely water logging ourselves Meagan took them all into the big pool for a splash before we headed over to the playground for a bit.

Day 331 – The Howard Springs

  • Howard Springs
  • 32°c
The waterpark with our friends was the plan today, but unfortunately on Tuesdays the waterpark is closed. So we decided we'd check out Casuarina Beach in Darwin, it was nice but not really for swimming.

Next stop was The Howard Springs where we also couldn't swim but it had an awesome playground and we saw the hugest Barramundi ever!

We finally retreated to the caravan park where we knew we could cool off in the pool

Tuesday night bingo night, we got to the pub and had a bite to eat before it was "eyes down"!

There were no Bingo calls from our table but we did get two prizes in the second chance draw! Ella was most happy with her Chocolate fondue maker and another prize she chose for Mama.

Day 328 – Karaoke Superstar

  • Howard Springs
  • 32°c
The boys loaded up the three cars and tripped off down to the Envirobank with their recyclables and returned with another $145 for their hard work!
Another easy camp day, a spot of shopping in the morning to restock the cupboards and the hope of a good health food shop bumpbow! nevermind, will have to venture closer to the city next week.
Steve, Ella, Oscar and the other families went out to East Arm to try their luck with a line or two, there were no keepers and once again Ella hooked up first and most fish, Steve and her were the only ones that hooked up but it was a fun afternoon for all.

Meanwhile back at camp I tried out a new recipe; Paleo choc mint slice, wow yummo! It is super delicious, very rich and pretty healthy to boot!

Whilst in the kitchen I also whipped up some natural toothpaste & deodorant and by all accounts so far both work beautifully!

On the fishing groups return we headed to the pub for dinner where Ella did a repeat performance of Valerie and also was support for Lily who wanted to sing Row Row your boat!

Day 327 – Quiet day at camp

  • Howard Springs
  • 32°c
It was a very quiet day around camp, we got some homeschooling done, fractions are getting a great work out! I spent some time chatting with a fellow camper Kerry, who imparted some valuable knowledge on natural sunscreen and insect repellent, something I will definitely be trying out soon.
Steve and the kiddos spent the afternoon chilling in the van and I think someone may have even had a nana nap!
For dinner I made some super delicious Chickpea & Veggie patties and another huge batch of vegan cheese, yummo!!

Day 326 – Happy 30ish Birthday

  • Howard Springs
  • 32°c

Happy 30ish birthday to Sueanne! Rach put on a monster spread of chicken & champagne and strawberries & cupcakes and had decorated the camp kitchen area beautifully!

Ella got stuck into her school work straight after breakfast, whilst Oscar chose to wait till later, quite possibly not the best idea as the day got hotter as it wore on, but eventually it was done!
Steve & Troy kept working away on Troy’s drawer & fridge slide and were very pleased with themselves when it all came together, not to mention it looks awesome and is super functional!
I busied myself with some more stitchin, trying to finish off Ella’s birthday present and nearly got it done.

After a quite afternoon, sitting around camp chatting with Megan & Bill and our gang of campers, it was decided that Rach, Sueanne, Wendy, Troy & Steve would head into Mindil market and then onto the Casino for more celebrations.

I volunteered to stay home with the kiddos and ended up with nine for movie night, rather than try and get them to agree on a movie I chose C.H.O.M.P.S., an eighties classic, which I think they all enjoyed. I whipped up a batch of perfect popcorn and everyone was happy!
