Day 239 - A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.....

  • Hervey Bay
  • 26°c
Our last day in Hervey Bay, so we got our schooling done early so we could head out and explore.

We landed ourselves in Maryborough, the birthplace of P.L. Travers author of Mary Poppins! We visited the old bank building where she lived on the top floor for some time.

We found the Mary Poppins statue after a few wrong turns thanks to Mr SatNav!

Day 238 - Waiting for Baby Bear!

  • Hervey Bay
  • 28°c
Oscar cruised down to the beach on his skateboard today, we were looking for an ice cream shop, which was quite a bit further than we had thought!

With ice creams in hand Ella & Occy cooled down after walking in the hot sun!

Late that afternoon and we got the news we'd been waiting for; Baby Bear has made her grand entrance.  Congratulations to Chantell & Adam, we can't wait to meet her xx

Day 237 - Hanging out in Hervey

  • Hervey Bay
  • 28°c
We woke to another beautiful day so it was off to for a spot of beachcombing, where we found another half of a sand dollar. I was hopeful this may have been the missing piece to the one we found the other day, alas it was not!

and of course we had to stop in at the water park for a splash!

Day 235 - It's Reno time!

  • Hervey Bay
  • 27°c
This morning Steve woke early and was a little shocked as he swung his feet out of bed and landed in a pool of water on the carpet?! I sleepily advised him to shut the vents thinking he was exaggerating and that a bit of rain had come in last night! Oh no, not so the whole carpet area ( whose bright idea was carpet in a caravan?) was soaked, that meant everything was quickly lifted up our under bed storage and placed outside. A couple of our neighbours asked what time the garage sale was?!

After we had cleared everything out of the bedroom, Steve discovered our hot water service had burst which was located in the bottom of his cupboard. We called the insurance company and left a message, our friend across from us had the same thing happen and didn't have any joy with the insurance and the outcome for us was the same. Sue next door kindly came over bearing gingerbread men for Ella & Occy thinking they might like a treat, seeing as Mum & Dad were preoccupied!

Steve and I pulled out the cupboards and bed to get to the carpet which we also removed and hung on the line to dry! Leo next door lent us his fan so we had that and the heater blasting the floor in the hopes of drying out the timber. Steve located a new hot water service and will pick it up tomorrow. So with nothing left to do but wait for the carpet to dry we headed down to Wet Side to cool off!

We really are very lucky to be staying in such a beautiful spot. We relayed the carpet and put the van back together before joining our lovely neighbours for afternoon drinks, which Rod alerts everyone to by putting "drinks" table out front!

Day 234 – Take only what you need

  • Hervey Bay
  • 26°c

A trip to the  Fraser Coast Cultural Centre/ Museum & The Big Whale was a worthwhile outing, their current exhibit was from World War 1 and contained lots of interesting memorabilia, they even had workbooks for Ella & Occy to complete.

From there we went next door to their permanent exhibition on the Fraser Coast land and it’s story, was very informative and held the interest of us all.
