Day 99 - Heading for the border

  • Point Lowly - Coorong
  • 503kms
Another beautiful day as we packed up and headed back out on the road again after cleaning up some elf mischief!

This gas plant was on the way out of Point Lowly and you have to go past it as there is only the one way in and out. I couldn't help but think that i wouldn't like to be stuck out at the Point if something went awry.  We also passed many salt lakes as we drove and unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of the "Salt Lake Monster" which was a smaller version of the Loch Ness Monster made from old rubber tyres!

Now a funny thing happened on the way through Adelaide, not once did we pass a petrol station on our side of the road until we were almost out of the city and in need of fuel.  This servo was quite small, located on a corner & had only one diesel pump that appeared to have been squashed in as an after thought.  So needless to say there was a lot of manoeuvring going on and in this battle with the pump, there was a small incident; bugger! I don't know if the bystanders saw the funny side of it as we drove out of the servo? We did come back in through the other entrance to get a better run at the fuel pump and no sooner had Steve got out of the car, did a good samaritan come to inform him that indeed we had crunched into the little yellow car. After filling up Steve went inside to pay and found out the car belong to the girl behind the counter, she was too busy to come out and take a look so just took our details and we were on our way. (Update: As of Feb 2013 we haven't heard from the little yellow car?)
