- The Bloomfield Track (again!)
- 28°c
Steve was up bright and early getting
prepared for another day on the track, at least we knew what to expect this
time! We managed to all be ready and out the gate just after 8.30am. Even
though we’d done the track just days earlier, there was so much to see and
there’d been a little bit of rain so it was muddy on a few places, although the
big river crossing seemed lower this time.
The Lions Den was very cool, a real Aussie middle of nowhere pub, writing on the walls, bras hanging from the bar, many, many odd artifacts wherever you looked. We found a table out on the deck overlooking the playground, which was just perfect for lunch. After photos and souvenirs we piled back into the cars and the convoy continued back the way we came, this time stopping at the waterfall near Wujal Wujal.
The path to the waterfall was really rocky and quite close to the river bank, so we were all keeping a sharp eye out for crocs! The waterfall itself was lovely and we all chuckled at the fact that we’d even thought there was a possibility of swimming here. I just kept picturing the scene in Crocodile Dundee where Linda Kozlowski leans into the river to fill her water canteen and the croc leaps up!
We stopped at a beach on the way down Cape Tribulation and again went no where near the edge of the water, which was a shame as it was such a beautiful spot, dampened only by the fact you couldn’t wouldn’t swim there.
It was dark by the time we got back to camp, 10 hours and 230kms later! Yet somehow we managed to chat away until late again whilst the kiddos hopped in our van and watched a movie, they looked exhausted. We have decided to tag along with Rachel & Troy up to The Tip of Cape York and will meet up with them in a few days. Unfortunately Felicity & Paul are on the last leg of their trip and are southward bound back to Newcastle.
