I awoke this morning in the swag to hear, "wow it's a wild horse"! My first thought was we're gonna get trampled, but as I gingerly poked my head from the swag I saw it was a good couple of metres from our swags. It was still of some concern so I roused the rest of the family from their slumber just in case it decided to gallop over us!
Seeing as the caravan park was on the beach, we thought we should take a stroll down and check it out, it was a lovely beach as far as possibly croc, stinger infested beaches go! Playing around on the beach were a couple of dogs that we learnt belong to the community in the style of red dog, one particular puppy was quite keen to follow us back to our camp site.
On leaving Seisia we filled up the fuel tanks at $2.22 a litre! A stop off at The Croc Tent is a must, we were falsely lured in by the caged Crocodile that turned out to be a replica, but there was a super cute piglet we checked out. The tent is full of tourist souvenirs and we all picked up some including our matching team singlets!
Everyone pitched in and the campsite was set up in no time at all. Punsand Bay was a lovely simple caravan park, right on the beach, which the kids made a beeline for as soon as all jobs were done. After some information from a fellow camper regarding the sighting of crocs and sharks close to shore, I reminded the kiddos that under no circumstance were they to go anywhere near the water.
We were quite surprised to find the caravan park had a pool, it was a bit to cool for me but the kiddos were more than happy to have a dip before we loaded everyone back into the cars for the drive to the top.
A camper had advise we go to the tip mid afternoon when the tide was out and take the beach route around the Cape to the tip. The beach was a bit quick sandish but the view was amazing.
Woo Hoo we made it to The Tip and looked great in our team singlets! There was only a few other people there when we arrived so we were able to get them to take some group photos for us. We had been told that earlier in the day it was like a supermarket deli, take a number and wait your turn!
The Tip of Cape York is a truly spectacular place, and to think we were going to skip it. The landscape is such an amazingly beautiful sight, we were very lucky to spot a couple of loggerhead(?) turtles bobbing just a few metres from the edge.
After soaking in the view we made our way back via the overland route and the views were just as amazing.
Team Jeep made it to The Tip of Cape York and Chrysler if you'd like to use these photos please contact management!
On return to the park we checked out the bar and had some of the yummiest meals of the trip so far!
