Day 52 - Outta this world!

  • Quinns Rocks
  • 20°c
Today we took a field trip to the Gingin Gravity Centre, which ties in nicely with what we are learning about the Earth & Solar System. It was really interesting and heaps of hands on activities.

The Leaning Tower of Gingin! 13 storeys high and from memory 222 steps, boy were my legs sore!
We took water balloons up the tower to drop and observe the difference in speed & the impact craters formed.

Steve decided to enjoy the experience from ground level and Neale didn't want him to miss out on the water balloon experience!

When I was at school Pluto was a planet not a dwarf so therefor we are still classifying it as part of the solar system 9 planets!

We did a 2km walk around the solar system starting at the Sun and the kiddos took notes at each planet.

We were lucky enough to have Jessie come for a sleepover, it was so great to see her after what seems like such a long time away! We had a lovely evening catching up and just hanging out.  We were all tucked up in bed and whilst scratching Steve's back I felt what I thought was a piece of gum stuck to his back! After pulling at it for a bit, turned on the lights and arggghhh there was a giant tick burrowing into his back! So that was it, everyone was back outta bed for a look and after realising we had nothing in the van to douse it with I called on Lizette who so graciously did a Florence Nightingale dash at midnight to our van and performed the operation to remove the nasty bugger! It still makes me want to gag just thinking about it. Suffice to say none of us slept so well that night!
