Head out on the highway, looking for adventure....
A lady travelling in the opposite direction said we should stop off for a look? Boy are we glad we took her advice and detoured off the main highway to the Head of The Bight. Not only for the amazingly, breathtaking views but for the whales!
Lost for words as to how amazing it was to see whales in the wild, in their natural habitat and with babies! We counted 10 adults and 2 babies, one of the babies was quite playful whilst the other stuck very close to Mum. Truly wonderful experience and quite moving for us all. We even got to hear a whale song! Something we won't ever forget.
What a beautiful country we live in!

Ella just couldn't walk anymore, sore toe! and of course Occy didn't want to miss out
Wild camels? really? I so want to see wild camels roaming the outback!
One thing we didn't expect to see were cyclists riding along on The Nullarbor
We decided to stop for the night at Border Village on the S.A side and were greeted by The Big Roo!
Research is yet to determine if we can class "Rooey" as one of "The Bigs"? Feel free to advise
Wasn't sure how serious the quarantine border situation is crossing over into W.A but cooked up all the vegies and made some stewed apple. Fell asleep to the humming of the Roadhouse generator!
Border Village Roadhouse, $41 a night, powered site, no water, extra charge for shower, $6.50 for a loaf of bread, only stop if you have to
So so jealous that you had such a wonderful time viewing the whales - hope they are still there in November xx

ReplyDeleteWe miss you guys too! Having a blast and am glad you think he's a "Big"! E&O thought so but to me he didn't seem big enough, although maybe it's a height thing? I'm sure when we were kids the Big Pineapple was at least 5 stories tall!
