Day 303 – Daly Waters Pub

  • Banka Banka – Daly Waters
  • 301kms
  • 33°c

I woke feeling about 43% so it was a quiet drive today as I slept nearly all the way until I was jolted awake by the roller coaster road we hit! It wasn’t much further and we arrived at Daly Waters Pub where we were going to make camp for the night. Boy were we surprised when we rounded the corner and saw there was a queue of vans probably 10 deep waiting to get into the park.

Rach and I left the boys to join the van queue and made our way into the pub to see if we could get a site, thankfully there were still some available, the lady advised us to join the queue and we’d be shown to our site. The gentlemen appeared to be a little under pressure, we were shown to two different areas of the campgrounds despite having booked in together. On setting up our site, Rach asked him if it would be possible to move their van to the vacant site next to us and she was told “I haven’t got bloody time for this”! I don’t think he was having a good day? About five minutes later he said to Rach “ You’ve got 5 bloody minutes to get your van over here”, with a smile she thanked him, but there was no return happy. So they hooked up in record time and whilst Rach stopped traffic and had to explain that they weren’t cutting in line but just relocating sites and I think they just made it in time!

After setting up we checked out the pub and pre ordered their famous “Beef n Barra” for tonight.
The pub has daily entertainment from 4.30 till 9.00 which was great, the first guy singing was fabulous and I wish I could remember his name.

The Beef n Barra is cooked on the bbq in the beer garden and you get your name called out to collect your meal, Steve, Rach & Troy said it was absolutely delicious and well worth it.

The kids were given an activity book and on completion would be given an ice cream, needless to say they all got busy and one interesting fact I learnt was that Daly Waters had the first International Airport in Australia! The main act of the evening was “Chilli” a singer/ comedian who was great, I watched a bit of him then took the kiddos back for movie night.

Daly Waters Pub, $26, power, water to fill tanks only, amenities, pool, pub, live entertainment
