Day 341 – Taking the wheel

  • Kununurra – Fitzroy Crossing
  • 638kms
  • 36°c
I did such a great job driving the other day that Steve gave me another stint in the Pilot seat!
I found it much easier today, I’m getting used to the way it tows, luckily as today’s drive gave us narrow roads, single lane bridges, road trains & more crazy cyclists!

It also gave us some more spectacular scenery, it really is like driving through a storybook, so picturesque and the landscape is ever changing.

My dear medicine woman Lizette diagnosed Occy’s strange sores as Impetigo, so it’s off to the Health Food Store as soon as we hit Broome, to get rid of them once and for all! We came across a young boy on a motorbike weaving from side to side across the highway? No shoes, no helmet, no way!

It was a long day in the car but Steve wanted to be in a town to watch the Pies vs. Hawks game! We decided Fitzroy Crossing was our destination and we pulled into The Lodge smack on 5pm and were lucky to get the last powered site. Ella & Oscar played with the neighbours whilst I made Sweet Potato soup and Steve tuned the telly for the big footy match, he discovered we couldn’t get reception but was more than happy to head up to the bar to watch it!
