Day 252 - Horseshoe Bay

  • Airlie Beach – Horseshoe Bay
  • 91kms
  • 26°c
Sunday morning and the alarm blasted us awake early, it was bird feeding time again. This time Ella was brave enough to hold her arm out for them and was quite surprised at how heavy they are!

We packed up camp and hit the road early with our new theme song pumping “Holiday Road”. Our destination this morning was North and a stop off at The Big Mango in Bowen was a must, the frozen mango was delicious.

Unsure whether we should stay the night we decided to try a spot Lizette & Neale had recommended and chance a vacancy otherwise we’ll keep driving. Luckily for us they had a vacancy and we settled in quickly and headed down to the beach.  We were greeted by one of the resident peacocks and were even able to handfeed it!

A trip to the Bowen Marina area found the tide was out quite a ways so there wouldn't be any fishing today, however there were sno cones to be had!

Wow! What a spot, a hidden treasure tucked away, beautiful beach, crystal blue water and giant boulders lining the area. We climbed the rocks for over an hour and did a spot of beachcombing before retiring for the evening.

These beautiful pictures were sent through to us, Mama Peggy meeting Lucy for the first time, I think that's great-great grandchild number 3.
