Happy Birthday Skipper!
The alarm blasted us awake, Again! We were
up and organized ready to head off nice and early today as we had a lot of
stuff to organize in Cairns.
Felicity and Paul had booked a spot for us, next
to them at the caravan park in Cairns, we checked in pretty early and set up in
record time. After a quick chat we headed off armed with our shopping list to
get us ready to hit the road up to Cape York. The day was spent picking up
supplies including a roof basket for the car, swags, cb radio, camping gear for
Rach & Troy and I even managed to squeeze in a quick trip to Spotlight to
restock! Last stop was groceries and the car was absolutely full to bursting
point, Ella & Occy couldn’t even put their feet on the floor!
Back at camp we unpacked everything and
Steve gave the car a quick wash as she was soo filthy from the last few days.
We thought it would be a good idea to set up one of the swags so we had some
idea for when we went up the Cape, it was really quite simple and really comfy,
I’m looking forward to camping by the billabong under the stars!
The idea of a swim was great after a hot
day in and out of the car, but in reality it was freezing. Ella & Oscar
still went in and Steve eventually got half in but it was too cold for me.
We
had dinner with Paul & Felicity and spent the evening chatting and
laughing, it was a really great
evening with such lovely people, the kids watched Rise of The Guardians. It’s a
shame we’re heading in opposite directions but we exchanged details and will
definitely catch up with them again.
