Day 288 – Darts with Dave

  • Musgrave Telegraph Station – Lakeland
  • 200kms
  • 26°c
Thankfully we all woke feeling happy and healthy and ready for another day on the road.

On return to Lakeland we found the vans where we left them, and our lovely hosts Dave and Pauline charged us 7 nights van storage for $1.00!! The boys took the cars to grass area for a full body wash, poor things were filthy.

Steve and Troy decided it was a good day to play Grease Monkeys and give the car a service, seeing as she had driven quite a dirty drive the last week.

After a hard day cleaning the cars and sorting the vans out it was decided that dinner was to be at the pub tonight. The menu was limited, it was either a big plate sized t-bone or a parma, when a vegan option was enquired after the response was "we're not some fancy restaurant in Cairns you know" Ok then! But to his credit the Publican did say that he caters for truckies as that's the main clientele, but the lady in the kitchen did whip me up a salad.

Our new mate Dave, the manager from the Caravan Park came over for a couple of brewskies and joined us for a game of darts. The pub was closing so Dave made the call that it was darts back at the camp kitchen.

On return to the caravan park we tucked the kiddos into bed and Rach was on nightwatch whilst I joined the boys at the camp kitchen. But there was a problem, another guest was sitting in front of the dart board watching tv and was not interested in moving for a couple of other patrons. Our friend Dave may have had a few beers and after politely requesting she move to the other side of the table, he tried many unconventional tactics including charades - "I'm not drunk, here i'll blow in the bag, fooooo"! To say the least this continued on for over an hour, until we decided it was time to call it a night.
